The Regional Office of the United Nations Commission for Information in the Middle East and the Arab World convenes an international meeting of the Commission’s Higher Authority.

The High Council of the United Nations Commission for Information held an international meeting chaired by

Dr. Taha Embaby, Regional Director of the Commission, with the attendance of the following distinguished members:

Counselor Ahmed El-Qady – Deputy Regional Director of the Commission
Dr. Mahmoud El-Shamy – Deputy Regional Director of the Commission
His Eminence

Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shaibi – Secretary-General of the Commission’s Office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Mr. Ibrahim Othman – Deputy Regional Director of the Commission

Dr. Ihab Nashed Gouda – Member of the Commission’s High Council

Economic Counselor Magdy Abdel Razek Amin – Member of the Commission’s High Council

Counselor Ihab Mohamed Abdelkader – Member of the Commission’s High Council

Dr. Mohamed Hussein – Member of the Commission’s High Council

Mr. Ahmed Sayed Ahmed – Member of the Commission’s High Council

Several important decisions were issued following the meeting

First

Approval of His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shaibi as Secretary-General of the Commission’s Office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, granting him full authority to form the office’s executive body and to appoint his advisors and deputies to activate and strengthen the role of the Commission within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

All relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia shall be notified of this decision, and it shall be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the date of its international accreditation

Second

To communicate with all officials at our international offices in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Morocco, the State of Algeria, and the State of Libya, and to call for the restructuring of our international offices in line with the requirements of the current phase and the significant international developments taking place

Third:
To set a date for an annual conference to announce all leadership positions and key officials of the Commission

Fourth:
To commence the activation of United Nations News Magazine as an official monthly publication issued by the Commission, dedicated to publishing all updates and developments related to the Commission’s work.

These decisions were adopted unanimously by the attendees after consultation with members of the Commission’s Regional Office who were unable to attend the meeting.
